ABOUT US
Milton Keynes Women & Work Group is an independant voluntary sector organisation and a registered charity, founded in 1978. We provide a range of services, which are targeted at unemployed women and women in low paid/low skilled jobs, who want to gain or update skills through further education or training in order to improve employability.
OUR AIMS ARE:
- Promoting equal access to jobs and training
- Enabling informed career and training choices
- Empowering through vocational training courses
- Improving access to the labour market
- Enabling self development
- Promoting family friendly/ work-life balance policies
WE WORK TOWARDS THESE AIMS BY:
- Offering a range of provision to enable women to seek advice and guidance
- Designing and Presenting effective, informative training courses in a safe, highly supportive environment
- Providing a free crèche facility and meeting travel expenses on all our training courses
- Holding training courses in term time and within school hours
- Liaising with local employers in both the private and public sector
- Listening to the needs of our client group
SERVICE PROVIDED:
- Advice and Guidance Drop-In's and Outreach bases
- One-to-One Advice, Guidance and Jobsearch Skills
- Training courses covering Personal Development, Job Search and IT skills
- Action plans - Self development/ Training/ Employment
- Signposting to other agencies
- Work Experience
- Supported computer Drop-in sessions
We are able to offer our services free of charge though grants from Milton Keynes Council, the European Social Fund and the Learning + Skills Council . We have also received grants to enhance and expand our services from MK Community Foundation and Nationwide Foundation. (more information)
