WHY WE'RE NEEDED

Milton Keynes Women & Work Group is an independent voluntary sector organisation and a registered charity, founded in 1978. We provide a range of services, which are targeted at unemployed women and women in low paid/low skilled jobs, who want to gain or update skills through further education or training in order to improve employability.

We work with women, and a few men, because they face barriers such as:

• low skills
• few, or out-of-date, qualifications
• poverty
• caring responsibilities (especially childcare)
• lack of information and support
• lack of confidence
• poor health
• having English as a second language
• poor access to transport
• lack of local knowledge

We help by:

• boosting confidence
• helping identify transferrable skills
• help writing CVs
• Training in:
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • Confidence Building
  • Jobsearch
  • Motivation
  • IT
• overseas qualification matching
• advice about how working affects benefits

We are constantly seeking sources of extra funding to expand our services to women. If you can help in any way either by donation of money, resources or time, we would be delighted to hear from you.
