COURSE INFORMATION
We run a range of FREE courses, with FREE CHILDCARE PROVISION and run during
term time and within school hours. Before acceptance on to one of these courses you must attend one of our advice and guidance sessions which will provide you with the opportunity to consider the
various options available to you.
We are reliant on funding for these courses so not all the courses may be on offer at any one time.

Wider Opportunities for Women Project 2005-2007
Fresh Start (Confidence Building and Jobsearch Skills)
This course is designed to help you make decisions about your job and training needs and to build your self-confidence.
Jobsearch skills include; CV writing; letters of application; application forms and interview techniques;
visits and talks by guest speakers.Open College Network accreditation 3 credits at level one or two. (Twelve - 5 hour sessions-usually twice weekly)
Interpersonal Skills Course
The Interpersonal Skills Course will help you to build confidence & self esteem.
It will enable you to make changes to your behaviour to improve both working & personal relationships by handling
and expressing feelings and opinions appropriately.
You can gain an Open College Network accreditation 3 credits at level one or two. (Eight - 5 hour sessions-usually once a week)
Successful Job Applications Course
This course is ideal for you if you are focused on your career path and need help with CVs,
application forms, letters of application and interview techniques.
You can gain an Open College Network accreditation 3 credits at level one. (Eight - 5 hour sessions-usually twice weekly)
Effective CV Writing
This course will enable you to gain the information and skills required to produce an effective CV, and covering letter. (Two - 5 hour sessions-usually once a week)
Completing Application Forms Effectively
This course will give you valuable tips on how to complete an effective job application form (One - 5 hour session)
Effective Interview Techniques
This course will ensure you feel confident about the next interview you attend. It includes a mock interview session,
which will put your learning into practice in a safe environment. (Four - 5 hour sessions-usually held over two weeks)
English Conversation Course
(Elementary and Intermediate levels)
This course will help improve your knowledge and confidence in your English Language Skills. It is taught by the English Language House, who will carry out a brief assesment and recommend the appropriate level for you.
(Five - 4 hour sessions-usually once a week)
Introduction to Computer Course
This course is particularly relevant to you if you have never used a computer or have very limited IT skills.(Six - 3 hour sessions - usually twice a week)

Counselling Skills
This course is designed to develop an awareness of the counselling process and the skills involved;
to practice and improve on these skills and to be aware of ethical issues.
The course is designed and delivered by tutors from Relate or MK Mind
Introductory Team Leader Award
This course is designed to help make decisions about career and training needs.
It will also help build self confidence and is NEBSM accredited.
Women into Male Orientated Jobs
This course covers subjects such as tiling, glazing, plumbing, carpentry and decorating. The course is be run in partnership with Milton Keynes College.
Introduction to Internet and Email
This course covers the concepts and use of the World Wide Web and Email. It will cover the terminology and use of both these valuable resources, useful for both business and home use
Introduction to Powerpoint
This course covers the basic concepts and use of the MS Powerpoint® application. It will cover how to create a presentation including the use of colour, animation, sound and background layout styles.
Introduction to Web Design
This will give the ability to create web pages that can be published on the World Wide Web.
